Fastest WiFi Connection at home

If you have equipment capable of the fastest WiFi connection available today — 802.11n, 2.4 GHz (up to 600 Mbit/sec) — make sure can you take advantage of it. Check if you use encryption WPA2-PSK+AES (Modulation Type 64-QAM) and 40 MHz-wide channel. What WiFi channel is the fastest? There are 14 channels designated for 2.4 GHz with 22 MHz range each and with 5 MHz step, therefore they overlap. To avoid overlapping it is recommended to use channel 1, 6, 11, and 14, but you want the fastest (40 MHz-wide channel) use 2 and 12, for instance. If encountering interference from other devices within the home, you can change the channel up or down. It is also good to check if there’s any strong wi-fi network nearby (here’s how to do it). Yet all Wi-Fi devices on your (one) network should use the same channel.

It is important to use your Wi-Fi equipment effectively, so you can enjoy fast and reliable data transfer over your network. The first thing to check is to make sure that other Wi-Fi networks in the neighborhood do not interfere with your home one. How to do that?
